The wrestling world was devastated yesterday upon hearing the news that the Legendary Terry Funk died Wednesday, at age 79.

The unfortunate news was reported first by Ric Flair and Mick Foley after he reached out to Funk’s daughter. Soon after the WWE confirmed the news.

“In My Entire Life, I’ve Never Met A Guy Who Worked Harder,” Flair said in his social post. “Terry Funk Was A Great Wrestler, Entertainer, Unbelievably Fearless, And A Great Friend! Rest In Peace My Friend Terry Funk Knowing That No One Will Ever Replace You In The World Of Professional Wrestling!”

Terry Funk was an active wrestler for over 50 years with him finally retiring in 2017. One of his biggest accomplishments on a list that could read longer than a NY Times best-selling book was winning the NWA Heavyweight Championship in 1975.

“Hi, this is Mick. Terry’s daughters, Brandee and Stacy, I have asked me to let you know how much they appreciate all the love and support you have shown him over the years – and how much they appreciate your condolences and kind words now,” Foley said in his post.

He wrestled for all the major wrestling companies from WWE, ECW, WCW, TNA, NWA, and many stints in Japan. A technical brawler, who could and absolutely would go hardcore when necessary, Terry Funk was God’s Gift to the professional wrestling business.
